About the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple and its Mahima (Glory), it is believed that Mata Vaishno Devi Temple was constructed by Pandit Sridhar who was a brahman pujari (Priest). Pandit Sridhar and his wife were faithful devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi.
Sridhar was instructed to carry Bhandara (Community Kitchen) by the Goddess in his dream. The financial condition of Sridhar was not good, and he started worrying about it and could not sleep in the night; then he left it all on Goddess Will. In the morning, he saw a little girl at the door of his house and she helped him to prepare food for the Bhandara. The villagers came in large number and accepted the “Prasada” and felt fully satisfied. But Bhairo Nath present in the crowd was not satisfied and he asked for more food for His animals. Mata Vaishno Devi present in the form of little girl asked Pandit Sridhar not to do so; that angered the Bharo Nath and he felt insulted; he ran after little girl but could not catch her as she disappeared from there. This gave Sridhar lot of sorrow and grief. Pt. Sridhar prayed to Mata Vaishno Devi and showed his desire to pay omniscience to Her. After some time, one night Mata Vaishno appeared in his dream and showed him the way to Her Abode to a cave at Trikuta Hills. Since then, Mata Vaishno Devi temple in the cave at Trikuta Hills is visited and worshiped by lakhs of devotees who come their to pay there omniscience to The Goddess and get their wishes fulfilled.
